What is going on in the movie industry in the Philippines today? The answer is it's doing great! However, the one thing I hate about the Filipino movie industry to today is the slow progress. Its slow based on how Filipino screen writers think of a new plot. There is almost nothing new. Most of the movie produced my the mainstream tv and movie industries are just recycled plots inserted with something "new" in it. Well what keeps me excited about the pinoy movies is something different. I know mainstream people would say that the plot is only about "sex" but it strays away from the usual "sampalan", and "pagmumura" from the "kontrabidas" then the "bida" gets a comeback by becoming richer than the antagonist and tada!...and the protagonist lives happily ever after. That kind of story is very predictable. I don't want to waste my money in that.
They should have casted Kim Domingo instead of Lovi Poe. I'm not against Lovi Poe but she doesn't have the look to do slutty roles but Kim Domingo has the looks of someone who can portray a prostitute or an escort role. She has the body, the bitchy but pretty doll face, and the oozing sex appeal. Derek Ramsay on the other hand is great for the fuckboy-rich-kid-sex-crazed role. It suits him well. For me he seems to have the skill to portray sex addicts. He might me one...just kidding. We don't know their personal lives away from the screens.
The Escort movie plot is okay for me. Something really exciting. Hoping that it doesn't flop when it comes out in theaters. You that Philippines has changed from a conservative country to a more open country that has adapted to the western world culture. Precisely the American culture. There might be a twist to the story. Maybe Lovi Poe is a slave escort to Christopher de Leon who has to work hard as a sex slave to buy herself out of this mess she has gotten into and it might be that Derek Ramsay is the key to her freedom. One twist I can think of is that Lovi Poe might be faking her love to Derek as you can see in the trailer that they have somewhat of a fight going on. As Lovi will use Derek to escape the slavery of prostitution by the organized crime run by Christopher.
Who knows? My imagination runs wild when it comes to predicting outcomes. We will only know when we watch this movie and wish that the hype is real.
